ANNUAL PRINCIPALS’ SALARY AND BENEFITS SURVEY DIRECTIONS
Since many schools do not have a salary schedule for administrators, this survey must be completed with the actual data for the people in your school in the surveyed positions. Every precaution has been taken to ensure the confidentiality of the information provided. The positions in the administrative team of EARCOS schools varies greatly. However, almost all schools have the positions of principal and assistant or associate principal. Therefore, this survey has been limited to 6 positions: lower school, middle school, and upper school principals and associate principals. Please read the following directions and definitions, complete the online form, deadline to submit data by June 30.
If your salaries are stated in your local currency, please fill in the name of the local currency in the appropriate place at the top of each worksheet and fill in each amount in your local currency. When the data is compiled and compared, the exchange rate for all currencies on the same date will be used to ensure a consistent comparison in US dollars. Only US$ figures will be reported in order to protect confidentiality.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
I. CASH COMPENSATION
A. Salary: Actual base salary paid for the position.
B. Overseas Living Allowance (O.L. Allowance): A percentage of salary or a fixed amount paid to an expatriate principal to compensate for the additional expenses of living overseas.
C. Bonus: Any amount added to the salary for continuous service, renewing a contract, etc.
D. Tax Adjustment (foreign or local): If the school equalizes taxes or contributes toward the payment of taxes, the amount paid to the principal or for the principal should be indicated.
E. Other Cash Benefits: Any other cash benefit not expressed above.
F. Total: The total gross cash payment made during the year.
G. Tax: The total amount of tax withheld, theoretical or real, including local tax, FICA tax, US income tax, etc.
H. Net Cash Compensation: The total cash compensation after taxes have been paid.
II. CASH RECEIVED OR MARKET VALUE OF PROVIDED BENEFITS
A. Home Leave Travel: Record the amount paid to a principal for travel to their home of record or any other destination or, in cases where a ticket is issued, the fair market value of the ticket
B. Housing: Record the cash allowance paid directly to the principal to cover all or part of the principal’s housing expense or, in cases where housing is provided, the fair market value of the housing or the amount of rental paid directly to a landlord.
III. OTHER BENEFITS
Identify “Other Benefits” by selecting the checkboxes after each program. If you contribute to a retirement fund, please indicate the percent of salary and on the next line, the contribution amount.
IV. RELOCATION BENEFITS
Identify “Relocation Benefits” by selecting the checkboxes after each program. If you pay a cash settling-in allowance, please indicate the amount on the appropriate line.
