The East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools is an organization
of 100 member schools in East Asia. These schools have a total of more
than 54,000 pre-K to 12th grade students. EARCOS also has 75 associate
members— textbook and software publishers and distributors, universities,
financial planners, architectural firms, insurance companies, youth
organizations, etc— and over 20 individual members.
Membership in EARCOS is open to elementary and secondary schools in
East Asia which offer an educational program using English as the primary
language of instruction, and to other organizations, institutions, and

Dear Colleagues:
EARCOS is proud to announce that TERESA ARPIN from Transformational
Systems Limited will lead our annual Spring Heads' meeting on April
20th through April 22nd, 2006. This meeting will be different from the
past Spring Meetings for we will be learning about the strategic planning
process while applying the material to a real world organization, EARCOS!
The goal is to learn and/or refresh ourselves on the planning process
while looking at the mission, the vision, and the future directions
for EARCOS. It is an opportunity for us to work together to make EARCOS
the preeminent professional development organization.
Ms. Arpin and I have worked together in Tel Aviv and with NESA as she
facilitated their strategic planning endeavors. Recently, she has been
the facilitator for at the following schools: Hong Kong International
School, American Community School in Abu Dhabi, and she is currently
working on strategic plans for the American International School in
Israel, Inc., the International School in Johannesburg, American School
in Bombay and NESA. This is NESA’s second strategic plan with
Steve Barone-Transformation Systems Limited(TSL)-facilitating the first
plan and Teresa Arpin-(TSL)-completing the second session in October.
Through this process of working with NESA, we have learned about the
differences between schools and professional development organizations.
This past experience should assist us in terms of efficiency and efficacy.
The following process brings that value added information to EARCOS.
We are pleased to have her with us.
EARCOS has chosen to be go to the Westin Resort, Nusa Dua. Bali, Indonesia
for this important meeting. The Westin is a premiere hotel providing
rooms at significantly reduced rates to ensure that EARCOS would come
to Bali. We are appreciative and hope to support the island in the best
possible way by having a strong attendance to insure a strong plan that
will meet the needs of the EARCOS Family. You may want to come early
or stay late as well. Please make your bookings by January 30th 2006
to insure a room. To insure that your reservations are secure, it would
be a good idea to copy all correspondence with the hotel to the EACOS
office at info@earcos.org. We will insure the reservations are correct
and in place. Just fax or email your hotel form (enclosed) directly
to the Westin Hotel and they will confirm your booking.
This promises to be a great-end-of-the-year program, one that will enable
EARCOS School Heads to be together in a supportive environment where
camaraderie is important. It will be an opportunity to have a powerful
role in determining the future directions of EARCOS. CLEAR YOUR CALENDAR
and we hope to see you in Bali.
Sincerely,
Bob and Linda
