Dr. Mary K. Fresacher
Candy Fresacher has been teaching at various vocational colleges in Vienna for the past 18 years. She has been in charge of various programmes at these colleges and has used her experience in the business world to help create curricula and teach new courses. For the past 7 years, together with an Austrian business partner, she manages her own small company which assists commercial enterprises in various fields of communication and tourism. Recently she has become involved in teacher training as part of her position on the board of TEA (Teachers of English in Austria). She also edits their ELT News, a journal designed to
disseminate information about new teaching trends and ideas to teachers of English in Austria
and abroad.
She received her B.A. and M.A. from California State University of Long Beach, and in 2006 her Ph.D. from the University of Vienna. Although she was born and raised in America, she has been living in Austria for over 30 years. Before entering the teaching field, she held various office positions; including acting as research assistant, administrative assistant, advertising director and office manager in various businesses, including the United Nations. This has put her in the unique position of being able to teach from a practical standpoint and has made her fully aware of the skills needed to be efficient in the business as well as the
teaching world. Having a love of travel as well as a love of photography, she also has presented a number slide shows in Austria and Hungary.
She has presented various topics at ECIS conferences as well as at other venues throughout Europe and America during the past ten years. Should you wish to visit her website for
